Stepping down from Nokia
I did something that sounds completely nuts. I resigned from my position at Nokia Multimedia after just six weeks. That so because it turned out unfeasible to do what I consider sensible there. Better to acknowledge it in good spirit. There are some good people there and we remain friends.
Guess it's time to try and make meaning.

» Mikä on mobiilin internetin oikea hinta? from Tuhat sanaa
Fons Tuinstra kirjoittaa Poynteronlinessa mobiilin laajakaistan hinnoittelusta. Hänen kokemuspiirissään hinnoitteluhaarukka venyy Saksan vajaasta 70 eurosta kuussa Kiinan kolmeen (Mobile Internet: How Much Will You Pay?).

» Cool as ice cream from Burn
In a world where going with the flow is as convenient as it is easy (what a ridiculous way to start a sentence), respect is a word too modest to denote my feelings towards Jyri's latest move. Giving up a senior position most techies would die for in o... [Read More]

» zengestrom.com on: Stepping down from Nokia from Lifeblog
Jyri Engeström is an interesting, kind, and clever guy. I've had the good fortune to listen and learn from him on numerous occasions. I've been watching him closely in his latest project that recently landed him in Nokia Multimedia. Unfortunately, [Read More]

I don't know whether it would be appropriate to congratulate you at this point, however, I must say I admire you for staying true to your ideals.
Best of luck in your further quest and let me know if there's ever anything I can do to help you.

too bad for the team you just left, even though this doesn't come as a real suprise, does it? just make sure you keep staying the way you are. you are a rare person.

You cannot go terribly wrong as long as you keep on being honest to yourself. The sorry thing about this equation is that it's damn hard sometimes and there are only few rare beems of light up to the challenge.
May the creative spirits fly with you!

I trust your instincts, Jyri. Quitting HotWired was one of the best moves I ever made. Good luck -- and see you soon!

I'm not surprised. Nokia's corporate culture is too militaristic to enable real innovation.

I'm glad we managed to exchange at least a couple of mails at office during this brief period while you owned a @nokia.com address! I had no idea you were going to dispose it off so fast!
It is good to see someone pursuing his dream, and I wish you all the best. Hope to see you again, even if it is outside of NoHo...

I was surprised to hear the news but I trust your instincts are spot on.
