What an exquisite man your grandfather was Jyri! What a beautiful post & video moment you have captured to reflect part of your blessed life!

Thank you for this gift into the essence of a special artist and evidently a special person!

Jyri - so much love in this post. It is evident how much your grandfather’s teachings have shaped you. We can all learn something from him; it’s an honest goal to try to paint our life into our work – no matter what our medium. Thanks for bringing beauty and appreciation back into the conversation.

Thanks Katie. It does make one wonder how many unrealized opportunities there may actually be for kids to learn from earlier generations - while they're still around.

What a wonderful, candid post. I wish more young people could have a mentor like Grandpa Georg in their lives. How different the world would be.

Jen, thanks for sharing your experience from the relationship with your grandmother Grace. I hope she goes on to make many more collages. And, I hope to get to have a comparable relationship with my grandchildren one day.

Jyri,

Thanks for posting this beautiful interview video with your Grandfather. I love his thoughts on art & beauty, the paintings, and the verdant plant life creeping into the video frame.

I am particularly touched by this, as my Grandmother Grace is 90 and has been a watercolor (Aquarelle) painter for the last 45-50 years. For most of her painting life, she took her watercolors with her as she traveled, be it the American West, Mexico, China, etc and painted landscapes & some city scapes. She has been mostly housebound the last few years and has been making abstract collages from magazines.

My Grandmother has been my one of my main mentors and encourage-rs of my own art and is always asking me about my photos and travels.

Thank you for sharing Georg with us.
