Ulla and I are both speaking at the Mobtagging workshop, organized by Mediamatic in Amsterdam today and tomorrow. Ulla will also deliver an open lecture on the Crafter Manifesto tonight at 8pm.

Ulla and I will be in Geneva for Lift 06 Feb 2nd-3rd.

Hubert Burda Media is organizing Digital Lifestyle Day 06 in Munich on January 23-24. They’ve invited 200 people to ‘discuss the connected worlds, the digital consumer and Europe’s role in innovation.’

I want to discuss the need for a new approach to mobile devices. I’m not thinking phones but devices that have internet built into their DNA. With Martin Varsavsky around, I’m hoping this will trigger some fruitful discussion.

But I’m still wondering what form the talk should take. My first choice at the moment is to try to develop a set of design principles for the next generation of mobile. Suggestions, anyone?

UPDATE: The last panel stood apart. Loic’s moderation was on cue, Reid Hoffman dropped gems, and Yat Siu convinced that English isn’t the main language of the online conversation.

So far Les Blogs is not living up to expectations.

I was supposed to be in the U.S. next week but now that changed so Ulla and I just booked flights to Paris for Les Blogs 2. Yay!

Creativecommons.fi will be launched on Monday. To mark this the IP Redesign initiative at the Medialab in Helsinki is hosting an open workshop on immaterial property. If you’re in town that might not be a bad way to spend the day. I’m going to be on a flight from Copenhagen to Helsinki in the afternoon, but my thoughts on IP will be presented as part of a video insert at the workshop. I’m hoping to make it to the afterparty if the flight arrives in time.

I’m hosting the next Aula klubi with Matt Jones tomorrow, with Ben Cerveny (Flickr, Frog Design, etc. etc.) as guest speaker. Ben will speak about the importance of ‘dynamic system models’ which allow very subtle and complex meanings to emerge in games. Will they become a new language for design more generally? This will be a great opportunity for the Helsinki community to meet Ben, so we look forward to seeing everyone there! The event will be held at Korjaamo on Thursday, June 2nd at 18:00. I’ll speak about innovation at the James Martin institute at Said Business School on Friday, May 6th at 11:00. I’m looking forward to this as an opportunity to get feedback from the sharp folks at Oxford on the storyline that I’m developing for the PhD thesis. For details, see the JMI announcement.

Thanks to some configuration work by Marko after Dan Gillmor’s cancellation, we’ve now confirmed a new speaker for the next Aula klubi on April 12th, 6pm at Korjaamo in Helsinki. He is (drumroll) Aditya Dev Sood, director of the Center for Knowledge Societies, a research and design practice based in Bangalore and New Delhi. Aditya will speak about the devices and cultures of Indian street innovation. This should be a fun talk! Check out the details here.
