MSN has posted a short video interview about my talk on designing services around social objects, recorded at their Innovate event in Stockholm in December.

A video and MP3 of the full talk are up on the Innovate site.

Swedish blogger Fredrik Wass has also uploaded a clip on YouTube that includes my answer to a question from the audience on what’s going to happen next in the social networking service space.

Very good talk, quite enjoyed it. It is very interesting to hear about the transition in semantics around the word “object” and “service design” which are interpreted in various ways depending on the industry.Coming from an industrial design background and having learnt about service design from the world of Ezio Manzini, i find this both intriguing and fascinating.

Great talk, Jyri, and thanks for posting that. It was interesting to hear your 5 principles for designing services around social objects and I think we’ll start to see these principles applied more an more.

Hi Jyri, I am very interested in your work about objects of sociality. It looks very similar to my own work which call these social affordance devices. May be you are interested in my Phd dissertation (to be downloaded from http://www.ou.nl/Docs/Expertise/OTEC/Publicaties/karel%20kreijns/Dissertation%2010%20May%202004.pdf) which discusses social affordances, social presence & sociability in relation to virtual learning groups.
Do you have papers which I can read.I am currently writing an article which extends my ideas about social affordances
Thanx in advance

Great analysis, thanks. The idea of framing objects with social interaction was well put. Very fluent and clear talking, too.
